1. How do you define success for yourself? What has helped you to be successful?

I define success as having a positive impact on others and uplifting them to see their fullest potential. I want to do all that I can to create a support system and a sense of worth. My success can be attributed to those who have supported me in this very way.

2. Think of a time that you faced a challenge, obstacle, or roadblock. How did you get through that and what did you learn?

Decide what you can control. Often times, it’s hard to let go of what you cannot control, and the anxiety can be overwhelming. My best advice is to talk to someone you trust and seek honest feedback. When you are too close to the situation, it’s good to get perspective. Remember, resiliency is a great trait to discuss in job interviews!

3. Who are your people (either by name or role) who help you to be successful/confident/intentional/reflective/any other descriptor you want to use? And how have they helped you?

My people are my family, the student-athletes I work with and my ACC Colleagues who are in the trenches and understand the heaviness of the work we do. These individuals are my daily support, my motivation and remind me of my worth. Their help can be through a thank you note, or text, a word of affirmation or a sweet hug.

4. How did you find your people?

Through authenticity and vulnerability I have found my people. Sharing openly has allowed me to find friends who have similar experiences or interests. I agree with the saying that, “people come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime” — value relationship – this is how we grow. Not everyone will be your best friend, and that’s okay!

5. What advice would you give to Wake Forest students as they look for their people?

Be yourself and be intentional. Don’t just reach out when you’re in need of something. Take the time to develop relationships.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

As a female, I think it’s really important to lift other women up! Be an advocate for each other and never let egos get in the way. “Empowered Women, Empower Women!” (Men, we appreciate your support, too!)
